We’re off for a 10 day spring break and I am more than ready. Report cards went home with the kids today, and my plans are all set for the week after vacation. I have some reading to do for work, but I left the rest at school.
Usually we’re off for a week at Kiawah Island--a truly beautiful and restful vacation spot where I read and enjoy the sun, and Tracy and Matt golf. Last year my brother, Dane, joined us and it was great.

The view from our condo last year.
We’ve been going to Kiawah for 10-11 years and this is only the second time we’ve skipped the trip. We’re all going to miss it this year. But . . . Tracy and I do have a trip to Atlanta to visit Sarah to look forward to. We’re leaving Saturday and will be gone a week. It’s a fifteen hour drive one-way so we won’t get there until Easter Sunday. On our way home, we’re stopping in Charlotte, NC to visit with Tracy’s college roommate whom I’ve never met. If it’s a nice day, we may even get a boat ride around Lake Norman.
Tops on our lists to do in Atlanta:
- time with Sarah; hasn’t been much of that this year
- new golf clubs for Tracy from the PGA Super Store to replace the ones stolen in November
- a trip to Archivers; the scrapbook super store (nothing like it locally)
- a day at the new Atlanta Aquarium (while Sarah is in class and writing a sermon for the following Sunday)
- shopping at Ikea and The Container Store; love these places, but you have to have a car to bring back the goodies so if we fly you can only purchase very small items. I have two large items I hope to purchase for my study/scrapbook room--one at each place.
- time by the pool of our hotel (I hope). A little sun and warmth will be a welcome thing although this winter and spring in Rochester have been nothing to complain about!
I’m taking Renee Pearson’s digital designs for scrapbooking with me. I’ve had it for several months and don’t ever seem to have enough time to really work on it. Thank goodness for portable iBooks, and I don’t need an internet connection for this project. I’ll also be working on my Random Me: A-Z class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. I’m going to need to take a lot of photographs for this project and hope to come home with a list of what I need to do.
Once we get home there'll be only one month until Adam and Sarah's wedding so it will be a very busy time. There's so much to do here that one wonders if the trip to Georgia makes much sense. But we are doing the important stuff--time with Sarah, time with each other--the rest will take care of itself.
