We're on vacation and although it's colder than we wish, it is as beautiful as ever. There is nothing we dislike about Kiawah Island. We spent yesterday wandering about Charleston. Today Tracy, my brother and his girlfriend golfed. I walked a couple of miles along the beach. Just me and the birds . . . very few other people about.

Everyone in my book group (men & women alike) enjoyed Russo's new tale.
Joshua Henkin: Matrimony: A Novel
It took me a couple of chapters to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't put it down.
Dalia Sofer: The Septembers of Shiraz
Compelling story, beautifully written.
Khaled Hosseini: A Thousand Splendid Suns
Another wonderful, but heartbreaking story about Afganistan. Makes one so grateful to be a woman in the United States.
