This is a bit of a cheat since I took this photo at The Chautauqua Institute last summer. We've been going the week of July 4th--Independence Day in the States--and flags are everywhere.

It took me a couple of chapters to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't put it down.

Compelling story, beautifully written.
Khaled Hosseini: A Thousand Splendid Suns
Another wonderful, but heartbreaking story about Afganistan. Makes one so grateful to be a woman in the United States.
