Her Space: My Space: Thread--A long strand of fibres.
Before I started rubber stamping (12 years ago) and scrapbooking (5 years ago) and photography (2 years ago), I used to be a seamstress. I made lots of my children's clothes, lots of mine, and once even made a three-piece suit for my husband in a tailoring course. Now my sewing machine is used more for stitching on paper crafts and occasionally for an alteration or repair. I still have lots of thread, though.
Oh!!! I never thought about my reels of cotton (just done mine with other threads) - I too used to do quite a lot of dressmaking but that's now years ago.

I admire the creator of this link scam for their ingenuity. Xrumer is an autosubmitter program - it will sign you with up with major forum software platforms like phpbb and even post your first post for you. Not much new with this type of software, but their game plan is brilliant.
They are using their own software in a massive one way link blitz. This dwarfs the old Google bomb by a longshot.
Their first auto-submitted post does not contain a link, it simply says something along the lines of: “I am looking for Xrumer auto-submit software, does anyone know where I can find the official website?” - Because they did not drop a link like most spammers, it goes unnoticed as spam. Now enter the well meaning member (and I have seen many ADMINS fall for this) who googles Xrumer and posts the link for them.
They have just received a bonafied link from a trusted member of that community. Now that is quality spam!
You can google Xrumer yourself to see how many forums are hit with it - it is quite impressive. It has hit so many forums recently that I really do not think there is a way to undo it - They got massive linkage.
Do not be tempted to buy it, Google will figure it out eventually and penalize it. Maybe you could get away with it if you had a mark that was already branded for linkage - take your chances.
A couple things to consider if you are tempted in buying the Xrumer software:
1) The obvious - you are perpetuating Black Hat SEO and spam.
2) Xrumer is a very unique search term, the same ploy would not work on any competitive term - and if you already have branding for your term, you would not want to take a chance with this anyway.
3) If you drop a link on the first post with the program you will be tagged for spam. To drop a link on the first post is the intended use of the software. Xrumer got around this with a unique term and disposable domain for quick cash.
Just guessing, I would bet they rake in an easy $200,000 in one week, or better. Would be interesting to know the real figures.

Hey guys I had an old laptop running XP Pro. A couple of weeks ago, every time I would connect to the internet via DSL or wireless, the hard drive light would come on - as if it were writing something to the hard drive. It would cause IE to run slower than dial-up. I looked in task manager and although the CPU usage was high, there didn't seem to be a process listed that was using it. I used LavaSoft Adaware to scan on a regular basis as well as Norton 2005. I eventually gave up and bought a new laptop (Vista Home), which now has the same problem. It is obviously related to something that I copied over to the new computer from the old computer. But the things is, Norton Internet security isn't picking up a virus. I used it to scan everything before copying it on to the new computer. Has anyone heard of such a thing or had the same problem? I'd much rather be able to find and remove the problem rather than restore.

Google climbed past a morass of ineffective search engines when it arrived on the Internet. Its devotion to the most relevant possible solution for a given query quickly made it the de facto search choice as millions of people shifted their browsing habits from walled garden content to the broader World Wide Web.
The essential and much-discussed PageRank technology holds a patent, a common legal protection sought by software developers small and large. Some have claimed software patents affect far too broad a scope of potential innovation, leading to lawsuits where a patent owner claims damages by multiple companies.
Those on the losing end of such suits end up paying for what they argue are obvious and non-original concepts. That could change with a shift in the way the USPTO looks at software patents, the Patently-O blog on patent law said.
A series of cases may remake the software industry, all the way to the top where Google and other companies reside:
In the most recent of these three (cases)—the currently pending en banc Bilski appeal—the Office takes the position that process inventions generally are unpatentable unless they "result in a physical transformation of an article" or are "tied to a particular machine."
Patently-O sees Google's PageRank, the patent for which is owned by Stanford University, as failing the first part of the test, as generating scores isn't a physical transformation. The second part proves troubling given recent decisions made by the USPTO in a couple of other cases, not only for PageRank but other Google patents too.
"Google might have thought that the patent system would surely protect new technological developments that are highly creative and socially valuable. The PTO’s new position proves that view mistaken," Patently-O said.
